QUICK TIP: HOW TO GET LONGER, FULLER LASHES @ HOME!

Hi Ladies! I think that I finally hit the jackpot on the lash train...... It is amazing. It will change your life. Ok I guess I am exaggerating a bit. But, I am serious it is pretty cool. I have pretty straight, short, stubby, stupid, awful, (any other of the worst adjectives you can think of) eyelashes. I try to hide them a bit by curling them and using expensive mascara, which works to an extent but at the end of the day I still have the same lashes I was born with, stubby. So if you have eyelashes like me, try this tip. It really makes a huge difference and takes .2 seconds out of your morning! (For my lazy gals like myself ;))

So first start out with your bare lashes, and use your favorite mascara.
After that take some baby powder on a Q-Tip and coat your lashes ALOT!
Then, mascara them up one more time.
AND VOILA!!! LONG LUSCIOUS LASHES!

This really isn't a scam I promise.. I know I seem like I am on a commercial trying to sell you baby powder, but it really is that simple. LOL. Try it out!!!!

How to get your Baby Blues to POP!

Ever notice how when you wear a certain color shirt your eyes just pop? Well, you should thank the color wheel for that! In order to get your greens, browns, baby blues to stand out you have to go with their complimentary colors. Its the same thing with makeup! Who woulda thought learning our colors with paint and mixing them when we were five would have really worked out in real life? The color wheel is actually a great go-to for a lot of things beauty related. If you have green or brown eyes don't worry I got you covered girlfriend! Keep on the look out :)

I feel like y'all blue eyed girls got it made. Every color looks amaze balls on you.
Golds, coppers, purples and browns compliment shades of blue.
With blue eyes you really want to stray away from black liner because it can look a bit harsh. Stick with a more brown or navy! Also, using a white/ cream metallic color on the inner corner can really make these blues pop!
In my opinion I feel like a light pink lip goes perfect with blue eyes--- or use an orange based blush.
If you really want to take the plunge-- Wear a neutral eye maybe a cream with light brown in the crease and outer v and lash line and match it with an orange lip! Maybe morange by MAC!
This would just compliment your blue eyes soooooo well.
You always either want to go for a crazy eye, or a crazy lip if you ask me..
If you do a dark smokey eye with a red lip you can look a little cray.
But there are no rules in beauty you do youu boooo! It could look beautiful! The only way you are going to get your perfect look for your eye is practicing to see what looks good on YOU!

*On Caseys eyes I went with a dark brown smokey look with my Lorac Pro palette. I used the color Taupe on her lid, with Sable in her crease and blended Espresso in her outer v and lash line.

I think the Lorac Pro would be an awesome investment for my blue eyed girls. It has a wide variety of browns, coppers and purples! Awesome
for everyday.. or spice it up for night! You can get this at Ulta for $50. Pretty pricey but worth it because you get 16 shades and it lasts for a leap year!

I hope this helped those blue eyed babes-- Let me know if you try these tips! Tag me on instagram: flowersinemilyshair :)

Music Festival Outfit & Hair ♥

Since its FINALLY Spring (although it is snowing here in upstate NY) what says Spring and Summer more than concerts!? Music Festivals are so fun and are the perfect opportunity for crazy makeup and funky hair. For your outfit you better make sure its practical but also, cute! Summer concerts, like Coachella, are always crowded and usually sooo hot. But, I'm not complaining! My senior year I went to one on black top and it was scorching all day like sooooo hot. Then, started hailing. I love mother nature. So like I said its always very smart to be practical with your clothing and hair!

So with her hair what I did is really embraced her natural waves she had going on. Which anyone can do. I lovvvve just going with the hairs texture. 9/10 if you know how to work with it, it will look soooo much better than a flat iron could do anyway! I parted her hair in the middle then, I put some anti-frizz creme, I used Redkens Real Control Creme Care. Its always good to use a creme vs a spray just so it doesn't get that scrunchy feeling. You want to mimic the hairs natural state as much as possible. After I did that, I diffused it on the cold setting until it was about 75% dry, then let it air dry the rest of the way. Just like that perfect hair! To enhance the waves and let them look more put together I took a curling iron and wrapped the pieces around her face around the barrel away from her face. Put on a headband and you're ready to go! I think this is a perfect festival hair because if its hot, you don't have to mess around with this to make it look good. Just let it be. You don't have to fuss around with it because it aint goin' nowhere! But, you still look stylish and carefree. (Damage free too, because who doesn't love that?!)

For her outfit, most of it was just hand-me-downs from my friends, parents closets! Salvo is where its at right now. You can always find awesome finds there for my on the budget girls.. But, I found some weirdly close pieces online as well. I think this is easy for a festival because if you get hot, the look is lately just tying it around your waist. Its there if you need it!

Its Friday, Friday, whats in your makeup bag on Friiiiiiiidayyyyy?

Sooo this past few week I have done ALOT and when I say ALOT I mean to much shopping. What comes with a lot of shopping is me having new favorites to talk about with you! I have been obsessing over some new products and some oldies but goodies so I thought I would obsess with you, seeing how my friends I think can only get so much of me ravvvving and ravvvving about how perfect this lipgloss is. Hehe;) I also got a new makeup bag as well but stay tuned to hear about that!

- First thing is that little gold tube! Thats YSL Babydoll Mascara. I got it at Sephora for $30. Yes, I agree that is STEEP for a mascara. But.... it is amazing. It is like you are always wearing false lashes. I have never seen anything like it. Another mascara in there is the Clinique bottom lash mascara! I think I need a little more time with this little baby because I forget about it a lot but it is an awesome invention I also got it at Sephora for $10. You can't beat that! Once I have more time with it I'll let you know the deets.

- NYX Powder Eyeliner and my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. Im talking about these two together because they are like Rose and Jack. (i.e the perfect couple) Ive been really into the smoked out eyeliner look Kylie Jenner did here. Its just very easy but looking like you didn't try to hard. Does that make sense? Lol. What I do is use the naked palette and put WOS over my whole lid and put Naked 2 and built up with Faint into my crease and outer corner. Then use the eyeliner above the lash line and below the bottom lashes and blend it all out with Naked 2 to make it really smoky. If you'd like to see a tutorial on that comment below! The Naked Basics is at Sephora for $28 and NYX Eyeliner you can get at Ulta but I can't find it on their website but its on the NYX site for $6.

- I have my essential Elf Eyeliner because you can never go wrong with a winged eyeliner! You can get that at your local Target or Elf.com for $1. Total steal!

- Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation-- I just got this over the weekend and love it. But, if you don't like a full coverage foundation this isn't for you. It is AWESOME though, for a full flawless face. It covers any imperfection. I got it from a counter for $35 and got this free makeup bag and a lot of other goodies!

- My holy grail product. Revlon Lipstick in Nude Attitude. It is the perfect nude and it goes perffffectly with my Buxom lipgloss in White Russian. I got the lipstick at my local drugstore for $6 and lipgloss at Sephora for $19.

- Macs Prolong Wear Concealer in NW20. This is the best concealer I have ever used! It is a perfect under eye concealer to really brighten it up and your bags go byeeee! I got it at Mac for $19. I also got my blush there as well in Stubborn. I really like this color for pretending its Spring! Hehe.

- Lastly the Anastasia Brow Pomade in Dark Brown. It is the BOMB.COM! The pomades texture makes its so easy to make natural looking brows and really mimic little hairs. It is the bees kneez. You can get it at Ulta right now for $18 in stores and you get a free brow wax to put on before as well! I highly recommend you to get your paws on this.

I hope this helped you all out and thought of some new products for Spring! I have tutorials coming up featuring all of them-- Keep on the look out  ♥

Get the Look: Kim K Pony!

As you all know, I am obsessed with the Kardashians.
Love them or hate them you hate to admit they have amaaazeballs hair and makeup.
ALL THE TIME.
How you may ask? Ok, I lied. There is no secret to them having awesome hair at all times except that they pay people millions to come help them every morning. Hey, I would look that great everyday too.
Once I heard Paris Hilton sleeps while getting her makeup done in the morning.
THE THINGS I WOULD DO TO BE ABLE TO SLEEP WHILE GETTING MY MAKEUP DONE!
That really is the exact definition of Beauty Sleep. Lucky sons of guns. But, as the celebs have people to do this for them, I can help you do it at home! Its so effortless and its perfect for any occasion.

First, tease a mohawk section of your hair.
Then, hairspray your comb and start brushing the sides of your hair back very slick into a pony. To make sure it gets as slick as possible run your hand over it with pressure after you comb.
OR keep your hand with pressure and use a blowdryer to set it with high heat.
Put your hair into a high pony & keep a piece out so you can wrap it around the base to hide the ponytail holder.
Then, fluff the pony by pulling the top and bottom. If you would like more volume tease the pony at this point.
Lastly take your hands as shown in the picture and just comb your fingers into the mohawk poof you made and just separate it making it look not so perfect. Take little pieces and hairspray them to make it look more piecey.

Easy, peasy, lemon squeazy.

Let me know how it works for you! Tag me in your instagram posts! @flowersinemilyshair :)

HOW I DISGUISED MY DRY, BRITTLE HAIR!

Heeeeeeeey Girlfriends! So I have been missing my long tresses a lot lately. Like a lot. Growing it out sucks. Then, I always get to thinking about how I had the worst long hair. It was deader than Abe Lincoln. You think I'm joking but I'm not... When I had long hair it was awful but I always disguised it so noone would know. I'm kinda a pro at it. I did everything to try to fix my split ends. But, at the end of the day just remember nothing can fix them. Hence, me cutting off all my hair. But you can mask them!

If you want healthier looking hair though-- 1st things 1st get a haircut. Sorry, I know you don't want to hear this but thats the only thing that will help!

ANTI-SNAP! ANTI SNAP WILL BE YOUR BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD IF YOU LET IT! It helps smooth the cuticle to make the look of split ends look tons better and helps further more damage. It is the bees knees. I literally used to soak my ends in this every single day.

I would ALWAYS air dry my hair. ALWAYS if I could. My hair just always looked less huge and frizzy if I just let it do its thing. I know this sucks but embrace your natural hair. I hated mine. Until I just started being lazy. HAHA. All of a sudden, the cool thing was (thank the lord) beachy natural waves. So just go with your hairs flow. Im sure its awesome. Use some sea salt spray and you're good to go!

If you do use heat- never forget a heat protectant. Just don't. Think about makin some nice old eggs. You always want to use Pam. Unless that'd just suck and ruin your eggs. Not using a heat protectant is going to do damage on your hair. I promise you.

Introduce some Awapuhi in your life. No joke. Every product in their line just literally makes anyones hair look 10 times more amazing. A great ones for my bland girls is the Shine Spray. This makes your hair look crazy beautiful and shiny. Who doesn't some shine in their hairs?!?

Use oil! Yes oil! Some Chi Silk Infusion your dry ends will suck that sucker up and look refreshed! I would put it in my hair when it was wet. Then, after styling.

As I tell you girls all the time, skip washes. Washing your hair everyday strips all of the essential oils out of your hair making it dry and brittle.

Use a leave in conditioner--- I used to use Healthy Sexy Hairs Soy Tri-Wheat Leave in Conditioner. Its on sale right now at Ulta for $10. WOOT! I put this in right out of the shower to work as a detangler. I would spray this all on my ends. Then ALWAYS take a wide tooth comb or tangle teezer and comb out my hair. Never use a brush. Start at the ends and work your way up. This helped a lot with the dry months when my hair was just awful.

Lastly, get a gloss! At my salon we have demi-permanent colors so they don't effect the cuticle (doesn't damage your hair) and it just brings back the shine and puts some depth into your hair! Book your appointments girls :)

Everything mentioned you can get at Ulta!*

I hope this helped your tangled tresses! But, make sure you get those ends cut regularly! Comment below and let me know how it works for you! Whats your favorite way of faking healthy hair?!?

DIY: Top Knot!

Top knots. Knots of the tops. Knot tops. Whatever you want to call it this style is the easiest in the entire world. You can dress it up or down and it is so perfect for 2nd or 3rd day hair. IT IS MY FAVORITE! It makes me miss my long hair so bad. In cosmetology school I would wear my hair like this literally everyday because like I told you before--- I am lazy in the mornings--- my teacher told me 'Emily do your hair this isn't a style.' So I would have to take it down everyday even though I loved my bun. I think I may of even cried......NOW LOOK! BOOOOYAAAAA! I WIN! All of the celebs are wearing this! It is a style. Lucky for us late morning girls it takes little effort! Have fun sleepin' in a bit!

First tease your hair and put some dry shampoo in those locks to texturize the crap out of your hair.
Then, take all your hair like shown and start twisting it.
Once its all twisted take it and start wrapping it around your hand thats still holding the pony.
Like shown around this part start twisting the baby ends then secure it with a hair tie.
It will look like a ballerina bun and very tiny at this point!
This is my favorite part---
Take the bun and pull at opposite sides to form the messy bun that looks good to you!
And YOURE DONE!

So have fun never washing your hair again. You're welcome ;) Whats your favorite way to tie up your hairs? Let me know in the comments!
