Get the Look: Olivia Palermo's Style

GUESS WHOS BACK WITH A NEW GET THE LOOK SERIES?!??
ME AND KYLA! EEEEEK and guess what? We have added a third bllogga, Victoria! Wooooohooo three times the fun!
Meet Victoria. Victoria has a blog over at Glossy and Glitzy all about fashion ! She's from NYC and all of her posts literally make me feel like I'm watching Gossip Girl. Not kidding. So if you love Blair Waldorf with a hint of Serena Vanderwoodsen, Victoria is your cup of tea. Today, us three decided to team up and recreate Olivia Palermos signature look! I went with her brown smokey eye over on Ky Marie C, Kyla did her curls on Glossy and Glitzy and I am having Victoria on my blog recreating her style! Go check out all of our posts to find how how to look just like The City star. SO, lets not waste any time. Heres Victoria!

This is my take on the Olivia Palermo look above. I went with a black jacket and faux fur stole instead of the check shirt. Without the poncho I still have a nice look and I'll have to admit I do have a weakness for cozy furry accessories. Olivia is a fan of fur as seen here and here and I wanted to add it to my look as well. I think it gives the outfit a touch of glam. I've been dying to create this look for a while and I was able to get a few shots of it last week. It's been a bit chilly lately (Juno2015 whoa?) and I was waiting for warmer weather to style this outfit for the day. Shorts are not exactly winter staples but I am actually wearing thin nude tights underneath. All of these pieces came from what I've collected in my closet. Some things are new, and some things old - I'd say it's a pretty comparable look for $1000s less. Sometimes a Get the Look might not be exact, but I like adding my own style. You should too and see what you come up with...you might be surprised what you find in your closet.

I'm hoping to create more looks for less posts for G&G. It's always fun to style an outfit inspired by another.  This helps me brainstorm and think of how I can wear things I already own - differently.  Olivia Palermo, Lauren Conrad, and Miranda Kerr are a few ladies that I admire when it comes to style and taste. Polished, chic, feminine, and classic are how I would describe Olivia Palermo's closet...oh and fabulous. Let's throw that one in there as well. Olivia definitely appreciates the finer things in life along with a sophisticated sense of style.

These are SO cool! I also bought the pearl earrings linked. Take a look at your local Macy's store for the black ones above. Check out my other earring picks HERE. There is also this set of three from Bauble Bar HERE.

Hope you enjoyed my first Get the Look post! If anyone has any looks they want to see shoot me an email at glossyandglitzy@gmail.com and I'll see what I can come up with. I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

xo,

Victoria

How To: Spice Up a Plain Outfit

If you know anything about me, you would know I love plain outfits. When I mean plain, I don't mean plain. I just like to buy simple, timeless pieces that I can switch out a cardigan, leather jacket, shoes, and make a total different outfit. That way the Regina George of your life can't tell you you wore that outfit already;)

So, what I did is I took 3 staple pieces in my wardrobe. A white t, boyfriend jeans and ankle boots. You can switch out the color of any of these pieces as well to switch up the look! From a grey shirt, to black, to dark denim, to light, to black boots, to tan etc. etc.

How To: Spice Up a Plain T
Before we get into this I'm going to tell you my life long secret.
You cannot tell a soul.
Well ok, I suppose you can, the only white v necks I will buy (other than Victorias Secret if I want a deeper V) is Hanes mens shirts. Literally, since maybe 9th grade. If I could count how many time someone complimented them either, I would be one rich gal. They are just so comfy and not a deep v at all so you don't feel exposed all day. Just the best. What I do is get a size smaller than I usually would and its perfect. Its a tiny big but thats how I like my ts. Roll up your sleeves a tiny bit and you are gooooooood to go. Best part is you can get like 5 in a pack for $35. If thats not a good deal, I dont know what is.
My first way to spice up your plain jane outfit is putting a cardigan over it! I really like this grey one from TopShop. An over sized cardi is so cute and adds to any outfit but other than that, its warm. In Upstate NY, you better bet your bottom dollar, you have a sweater. Especially where I work-- Dr. Surosky, turn on the heat PLEASE!

Another quick idea is adding a leather jacket. Leather jackets complete so many looks. I love them. Anytime I wear a leather jacket, I feel like a BOSS. This one from Nordstrom would be perfect because its more structured. This will make your T look more put together, like you spent allllll day workin' on your cute outfit when you woke up 45 minutes late. #mylife
Last but not least, to bring this outfit from day to night is switch out the boots and put on a blazer with heels! This would be the perfect going out look! This blazer from ASOS would be soooo legit with these heels from Target! You prob can't tell or anything but I am all about the monochromatic colors! I think its just timeless. But, if you wanted to add some color, you could always add a purse, or change out the heels or jacket for a blush color!

I hope this helped everyone spice up their plain outfits! Whats your favorite way to spice up a t? Can you believe I wear mens shirts?!?!? Talk to you all sooooooooooon :)

Taking Stock

Hi guys, I really miss you! Lol, I have been slacking big time in the blog department. I can't even use the excuse that I have had a lot going on, because, honestly.... I haven't. I just have felt so unmotivated in the blog world. I had to take ten steps back and give it a break. Also, it doesn't help that I am back living with my parentals and their internet literally is the worst. I can't believe I'm uttering these words but I think AOL might have been better. #countryprobs #deersaremyneighbors But, by taking this little vacation from my blog, I actually have become very inspired. I haven't had the time to round up any posts but, I have been so obsessed with The Day Book Blog and she posted this here and I thought why not?? It was weirdly refreshing... It reminds me of MySpace surveys and I used to be AALLLLL about that life. pc4pc?

How to: Winged Liner!

From time to time I read back on old posts and I was reading my old posts the other day and found this gem and could not stop laughing. Like what am I talking about I like my spoons for cookie dough? Hahahhahahahahahha, still pretty true. It might not be that funny, but hey, at least I got a good laugh.

Winter Look Book

I have been addicted to watching Look book YouTube videos lately, so when my BFF Sam came home from the city (she's a videographer) I thought, you know what, I could do that?!? It looked so fun, so I totally took advantage. We put together three looks that scream winter, that you may already have in your closet! Check it out! And don't forget to tell me what you think! EEEKKK!
